They are not lazy they ate being mismanaged by a manager or management team who can't get them to play I the way they should be able to play. Stop pandering to RW, he needs to take a good hard look at himself, he us a significant part of the problem at present.

No, last season's takes that award. These I think do care and are trying but the setup isn't getting the best out of them

Re: Is this our Laziest Group of players
Watched the extended highlights and to me we could have lost the game by 3 or 4 goals. The amount of space we allowed their players was criminal. Defenders were know where near there players around the box and apart from Forrester never won any tackles. We seem to be around 4 yards away from their strikers when they attacked. We are not robust enough in our tackles. We looked like a relegation outfit. On that showing there’s no way we will be in the top ten.We looked a team without ideas. RW has no ideas how to turn this around. He says the next 6 games will be crucial .Well with Stockport and Huddersfield away in those fixtures he could be out after these gamesPT78 wrote: Sat Oct 24, 2026 9:23 pm Apart from 1 or 2 is this theLaziest group of players

Players still not fit 12 games in? What do they do in training?

Doesn’t reflect well on Wellens. Either they’re ignoring him, so he’s lost the dressing room already, they’re inherently unable to play his way, so why did he allow them to be signed or the conditioning training isn’t up to scratch, which is down to his coaching team.gshaw wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2026 8:47 am Players still not fit 12 games in? Many of his criticisms of others are really self owns.

I wouldn't say lazy but we do seem to lack a bit of physicality.
As an example, 'kept an eye on Scarlett yesterday. He ran about a lot but rarely looked dangerous. Looked knackered half the time. He used to be built like a whippet but now he's filled out there's a lot of him to cart about. (Bit like Theo)
'Don't know much about what the physios get up to but could it be we have a problem in the therapy dept.?

Re: Is this our Laziest Group of players
We've had a massive turnover of players over the last 15 months. If that many professional footballers are being accused of being lazy, you might want to look at the common denominator, which is the manager.
If fitness is the excuse, then again you'd need to look at the manager, as we got most of our business done relatively early, and Gilbert, who had no pre season, has immediately looked like our best player.

Wellens thinks it’s all going to magically come together when everyone is ‘fit’
Ffs, these are professional athletes, we’re 3 months into the season, wtf?

Re: Is this our Laziest Group of players
His build is more like Koroma's than Theo's. If he's to be taken seriously as a forward in he coming years then he needs to shed a bit of timber and probably the only way he does that is to play 15-20 games consecutively. Will that happen???Orientnil wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2026 8:59 am I wouldn't say lazy but we do seem to lack a bit of physicality.

Have you seen Idris running so lazily behind Burton players , both goals during the highlights ?

Don't think it's laziness it's lack of conditioning.
Get that conditioning team out
Noticed Koroma looks fitter at chesterfield and scoring goals
Says it all.

Re: Is this our Laziest Group of players
If you genuinely think Idris is lazy, I’m sorry but I can’t converse with that level of stupidity. Other than Ethan, he covers more ground than any player under Richie’s reign.PT78 wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2026 3:14 pmHave you seen Idris running so lazily behind Burton players , both goals during the highlights ?

If you cant see the lack of effort then "I’m sorry but I can’t converse with that level of stupidity" . . Coverage of ground does not equate to intensity of speed.Hoover Attack wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2026 3:41 pmIf you genuinely think Idris is lazy, I’m sorry but I can’t converse with that level of stupidity. I really think you need a sciences education rather than a footballing education

Re: Is this our Laziest Group of players
I didn't see the game yesterday so can't comment on that but going by what I have seen so far this season at home the players are definitely putting in the effort . The problem seems to be our lack of fitness . I can accept players like Gilbert and Scarlett haven't had a pre-season, and Aaron Connolly has been out for a long time so is a bit rusty . However what's wrong with the rest of them . We have more than enough talent within the squad this season so no excuses. This is for Richie and the coaching staff to sort out, sharpish .
Edit Regarding Hayden I think his legs have gone anyway so its like flogging and dead horse

Re: Is this our Laziest Group of players
There looks to be a fitness issue to me. El Mizouni was out on his feet, which probably cause the second goal.
It is incredibly frustrating and it has happened in each of our 4 season back in League One under Wellens. We seem to accept that we will have a poor start in the hope that players will get fitter and gel as it goes on. It worked in bith of our first two seasons, but not last season. It is like starting with a points deduction.
