Baxter at fault bring back Noah
Watching Baxter in the warm up today he was good saving shots to his left but let 2/3 in at his near post to his right.
Guess what happens in the game lets it in at his near post to his right.
Noah should have still been in goal you never change a winning team.
Richie decision is so age related if Noah was 25 I bet he would have been in goal today, age should not come in to decision.

Re: Baxter at fault bring back Noah
Baxter probably should've done better for their goal, but made a string of very good stops afterwards - kept us in the game.
Either way, Phillips won't be getting any gametime now Dovin has joined, so its for the best that he goes out on loan ASAP.

Sorry mate, he made some excellent stops today. Glad to see him back.scottychamps wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 8:37 pm Watching Baxter in the warm up today he was good saving shots to his left but let 2/3 in at his near post to his right.

You can see why we've gone for Dovin.
He cannot be letting that in at his near post like that.

Baxter’s kicking is limited. Phillips’ is poor.

Baxter was good today, glad to have him back between the sticks.
What about the saves Baxter made today
Instead we want to have a negative post about the goal, which Olowu should have cleared.

Re: Baxter at fault bring back Noah
Baxter made some decent saves but he should have done better with the goal.
His distribution was poor, meaning we were put under pressure again.
Baxter seems ok-ish, especially compared to some of the recent rubbish we’ve had between the sticks, but I can see Dovin usurping him soon

Olowu was good today, he’s becoming one of the first names on the team sheet.Stan1972 wrote: Sun Sep 06, 2026 12:33 am Baxter was good today, glad to have him back between the sticks.

What about how Olowu handled a tricky striker on his own for the rest of the game today
Instead we want to have a negative post about the goal, which one of our two right backs should have stopped if they were marking the left winger.

Re: Baxter at fault bring back Noah
We’ve seen him (and our other keepers) kick the ball directly into touch multiple times which is extremely frustrating to watch, but I guess they’re under instructions to try to hit the wingers. Not sure this tactic is working to be honest - surely it’s better to have a bigger shot of keeping possession by kicking more centrally?

Re: Baxter at fault bring back Noah
Youd prefer he kicked it onto the head of their 6 foot 5 centre halves rather than hit Chinedu out on the left? Re: Baxter at fault bring back Noah
I’m not sure it’s that interesting, but if we regularly kick it straight out then we definitely surrender possession. They have no 6’ 5” centre halves, but it’s not A or B is it?Hoover Attack wrote: Sun Sep 06, 2026 8:37 amYoud prefer he kicked it onto the head of their 6 foot 5 centre halves rather than hit Chinedu out on the left? The Luton centre half picking up Jaze was taller than Big Philly C.

Re: Baxter at fault bring back Noah
If that really is the case then he should practice saving shots to his right in training . However I'm sure our keepers already train on every aspect of goalkeeping so it's just what happens on the day . Our goalkeepers are only human , they are not a brick wallscottychamps wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 8:37 pm Watching Baxter in the warm up today he was good saving shots to his left but let 2/3 in at his near post to his right.

Amazing isn't it, he's been here a few days and some of these morons are already picking him to pieces.

Re: Baxter at fault bring back Noah
Ederson Or Manuel Neuer outstanding with their feet great shot stoppers command the area, why not go for one of them, it's division 3 for f sake. And all those who have already got Dovin in. Seen much of him have you?

Re: Baxter at fault bring back Noah
He did very well yesterday to keep us in the game, he already looks like a good shot stopper, and one of those keepers who's comfortable scrambling around amongst flying boots to get hold of the ball. He'll do well for us, I reckon.Chicken Dhansak wrote: Sun Sep 06, 2026 3:18 pm Amazing isn't it, he's been here a few days and some of these morons are already picking him to pieces.
His distribution definitely needs work though.
'Morons' isn't a very nice word, btw. Do better.

Re: Baxter at fault bring back Noah
I also think Nathan is a good keeper and will do well for us .. However the word "moron' in this context is both accurate and to the point . So in my opinion while not a nice word it's appropriate.AlphabetKing wrote: Sun Sep 06, 2026 4:37 pmHe did very well yesterday to keep us in the game, he already looks like a good shot stopper, and one of those keepers who's comfortable scrambling around amongst flying boots to get hold of the ball. Re: Baxter at fault bring back Noah
"Shouldn't be beaten at his near post" is such a myth started by pundits and commentators that have never played in goal. The assumption is a keeper should stand on his near post but if he does that a lot more goals are conceded, you still have to protect the whole goal and stand at a place to be able to reach shots to both posts. He should have been a little more aggressive and further out that way if he saves with his legs hes wider than the post so it goes out for a corner but its a brassy position especially for a keeper still new to a team and just back from injury
