An impressive defensive display at Bradford City, was followed by another clean sheet and home win over Blackpool. Things felt fairly good a week back and I don’t recall any calls for Richie to go at that point. We then lose two away games - by the odd goal - and the calls start again.
Whatever we all think, Richie will get longer.

Re: Time for a change
If the remit is to play boring football and drain the life blood out of a group of talented players then Wellens is winning in spades.Long slender neck wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 8:58 am We're 15th, no need to panic just yet. The remit is to avoid relegation.
It’s not just the defeats, it’s the manner, tatics, team selection, communication etc

I don’t see a group of talented players. I see a group mostly made up of league one plodders which befits our standing in English football. There is nothing inherently wrong with that, if Richie gets a tune out of them we might even finish top half.

I really don't want to be part of the pile on for Wellens departure for multiple reasons but his remark about Boniface and the reference to a back four, implying he can't play that system with or because of Morris disappointing.
I think it was particularly illuminating and I now think he and the club should consider his position.

If it wasn’t for the Charlie situation I would probably give it til Christmas or carry on backing Richie to the bitter end (relegation) as I have always and as his achievements here arguably merit.

It's not an incredible squad, but the likes of Baxter, Stevens, Connolly, Akhamrich, Gilbert, Miz based on previous seasons, arguably Forrester - these are very good players for this level.Beradogs wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 9:50 am I don’t see a group of talented players. It's hard to say whether our striking options are good enough because they are being given nothing to work with, and Hayden is an issue, but I think we have enough talent not to get played off the park by the likes of Barnsley, Burton, Wycombe etc.
