Re: Richie Interviews after Bansley 1-3 loss & DV's to RW thanks to Bergen
Right, now Richie is talking about injuries 3 games into the season the question has to be asked, what are Orient doing wrong to be afflicted with so many injuries on a regular basis?
When you're going multiple seasons with half a dozen or more concurrent injuries for most of the time it can't all just be bad luck.
The footballing review looked at recruitment, player personality and supposedly physical robustness but did it look at training regime, fitness & conditioning and how players are brought back after injury?
Seems we have not only a problem with the injuries in the first place but players relapsing with the same injury again (Forrester a case study in recent times). Boniface breaking down having only just joined seems another odd case.
On the expectations thing barring the usual suspects saying HMS Piss the League regardless of who we sign it's mostly mid-table predictions, with the only expectation being to avoid another relegation dogfight. If that's too much to ask something is going wrong.

Am I the only one who is getting a bit worried by some of these comments by RW? He said before the Barnsley game that he was pleased with the progress and that we are much better than last season. Now he is blaming the players and asking questions about our ambitions. I hope I wrong.

Our last home win was in March.
I'll never boo the team, as I don't think it helps in any way, but he has to give us something to cheer at home. Today was an unacceptable performance l.

I hate to admit it, and I’m hoping it’s the emotion of the game on both our parts, but he sounds as though he doesn’t want to be here anymore.Bergen wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2026 8:38 pm Am I the only one who is getting a bit worried by some of these comments by RW? Obviously it’s frustrating when you sell your best players but all clubs outside of about 2 in the whole country have to deal with that. He knew the budget when he signed his contract, and presumably going into this season he knew where things stand.
If he doesn’t like it he should leave and go to a club that he thinks will match his ambition. I don’t want him to go but it feels like it’s turning into unhealthy resentment on both sides

Ffs.
He’s trying to temper fans expectations and take the heat off a young, inexperienced side.
It’s not that deep, bro.

Think you’re probably right but the whining about blackpools forwards helps that. Presumably he’s sore because we didn’t want to pay a fee for his mate Jerry Yates.Hoover Attack wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2026 8:57 pm Ffs.

Richie always blows up in an interview after a match where we lose badly

If anything, I've been surprised it's taken this long for some fans patience to wear thin. We haven't won a home game for 6 months. And saying forget about the play offs in game 3 is bizarre.
What else could he have done, personnel, formation or tactics wise, to secure a better performance and result?
That interview was a reminder to fans that we’re 3 league games in, this is a work in progress, we are a young side, the reaction from some of our fans was diagusring today.
I'm not saying Richie out, he should be given time with a new squad. But the fact he's back to deflecting blame having been backed heavily in the summer after throwing almost the entirety of last season's squad under the bus - it's irritating after a game like that. Should have left it at it's a young squad and we're learning.

But he’s right. If the owners want us out of this division, we need another option up top. Kabia should be the back up to an older, more experienced option.
Same applies in other areas. We’ve a kid in goal, a kid at CB and no cover for our 2 CMs.

And my question above remains unanswered. What else could he have done? He was right to keep WellensJnr1 out of the midfield, they’d have murdered him. That team was as good as it gets from the available players.

Does the fact that we have only had 3 wins at home in the league in 2026 with the last one being mid March have something to do with the crowd reaction?
That is relegation form. He’s changed most of the starting 11 but we play the same way. All the other league managers have sussed him out and he’s too stubborn to change.

We played Barnsley at home in February. We lost 3-1. Except in that game we had better xG, more possession, more shots.KenleyO wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2026 9:11 pm Does the fact that we have only had 3 wins at home in the league in 2026 with the last one being mid March have something to do with the crowd reaction?

Since then, we've assembled an expensive new squad, spunked a record fee of c£700k on a new striker, and Richie can't improve the team's performance over what we had six months ago. Same tactics, same nonsensical subs.

Re: Richie Interview after Bansley 1-3 loss
Getting the best out of the players available is the managers job. I don't think anyone watching that today would say we got the best out of that side. And the subs he made actually made us look worse.Hoover Attack wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2026 9:05 pmWhat blame has he deflected?Mistadobalina wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2026 9:03 pmIf anything, I've been surprised it's taken this long for some fans patience to wear thin. Again, just chalk it up as a bad day. Digging out the fans, the experienced players, the budget - feels pointlessly negative and defensive.

Basically yes, I still see nothing that convinces me that Gandler is interested in Orient beyond the hook of getting his multi sports complex builtRich Tea Wellin wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2026 7:52 pmI mean if that’s true that’s worrying in a wider scale. More like Richie sulking that we sold Ballard but could the owners be happy to chug along in league one, get a couple of decent fees every year?KingLes wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2026 7:45 pm What staggered me was him saying we all want top six but the owners not expecting it , don’t tell Gandlier we’re aiming for another season of mediocrity

The record signing bit is irrelevant. We’ve paid good money for him purely so we can develop him and sell him on for a big profit.Mistadobalina wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2026 9:10 pmWe spent f*ck knows how much on Kabia. He’s had one season - admittedly a very successful one - of League football, in the division below. He shouldn’t be our only genuine striker option. We should have someone else in the squad that can play up top, not a stocky left winger with a patched up knee and an untried and untested 18 year old kid with no experience of men’s football.
Richie is right.

By comparison, Bristol City’s record signing has started 1 out of 4 of their games so far, letting him adjust to his new level, without slamming the pressure on him….

Disagree. You don't spend that amount of money on a project player. That's what a Ballard type signing is for.Hoover Attack wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2026 9:32 pmThe record signing bit is irrelevant. Would agree that the backup option is, on paper, extremely underwhelming. If it was a choice between bringing in two permanent players at a decent chunk, or blowing so much of our budget on a single bet that we had to resort to the kid on loan route for a deputy, it's a hell of a gamble and a worse position than we were in last season.

Looking at the game it’s fair to say Dobra
should never have started obviously still
not 100% fit ..
So we rock the boat and the reliable Oberio
drops to the bench and the midfield looks so
poor compared to the Wednesday game ..
Baxter lasts barely 2 games before injury
O’Neill out for roughly 6 months injured
Dobra lasts 70 mins in first game before
Injury..
Boniface .. barely lasts first game injured ..
Investment in a sound training facilities
for a professional football club … Priority

Kabia has had one season of League football (in the division below). Of course he’s a project player.
The only reason we had to pay a bit more for Jaze than Dom is he had one successful season of football compared to Doms none.

Agree on this apart from Obiero, still not up to it at League 1 level imo. Another season long loan required.Hedmans Header wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2026 9:52 pm Looking at the game it’s fair to say Dobra

Pushing half fit players when they're not ready seems to be a common theme and we then wonder why they break down again
One of the recent RW videos looked like it might be coming from the training ground but they never used it all summer. Is it the facility or also the training intensity / schedule?
